Biofuel Energy System Simulator Software and Method

Disclosure #: 1546
Description: The software calculates the net energy efficiency and natural resource requirements of corn-ethanol bio-fuel production systems. The software also calculates the greenhouse gas reduction of ethanol fuel as a gasoline substitute. The software uses parameter values supplied by the user to determine the efficiency for a specific ethanol plant, the surrounding crop production zone for feedstock, and co-product processing and cattle feeding.
Advantage(s):
  • Highly intuitive
  • User-friendly graphic interface with graphical data output
  • Summary report shows all input parameter values and output metrics
  • Can be used to compare the efficiency of different bio-fuel systems and as a template for certification of low-carbon content bio-fuels
  • Can also be used to determine carbon credits for national and international greenhouse gas emissions trading markets.
