SBIR/STTR Grants
The competitive, three-phase Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) Grant programs resulted from the Small Business Innovation Act of 1982, which stipulates that certain government organizations reserve a portion of their budgets for innovation research grants as a means of providing small businesses access to research and development that they might not have otherwise. If you have a technology for which you are interested in pursuing this sort of funding, follow the links below for more information. To better your chances of a winning an award, start this process as soon as possible.IMPORTANT: Application for SBIR/STTR funding requires the small business to complete a number of government and other registrations PRIOR TO submission. These registrations may take in excess of two (2) weeks, which could prevent you from meeting the submission deadline. Please make sure to start the registration process as soon as possible (See the links under the section: "For purposes of this grant, will you work with an existing business or start a new business?")

Have you disclosed your invention with the University's Office of Technology Development? (Click here if not.)
